I've been wondering for a while how lustre glazes would look on a darker clay body so testing on black clay was something I wanted to try.
I made test tiles using 10% black stain into earthenware slip and tested a small number of glazes on them. I am really happy with the results I got and would like to try tests using the hexagonal slip cast pieces because there is a difference between how a glaze looks on a flat tile and an object.
This photo shows the difference between the same glaze on different clays. Left: white earthenware, right: black earthenware. There is a big difference between how the lustre looks on a white clay and a black clay, I really like some of the results, especially tile number 502, I will try these tests again on slip cast hexagonal pieces to see if the results are just as good.
